Entry: Rooibosch Tea - A1127468
Author: seyms <>< - U236628

I thought maybe this would be better as part of a bigger article about "alternative" teas, their flavours, uses, and history. I am particularly interested in medical applications. Maybe something entitled "Medicinal Teas". Anyone else out there interested in this kind of thing?

Okay a new title and a reworking of the Rooibosch entry into a bigger article about Alternative Teas. A bit of patchwork really. I guess I need to know if I am pitching the style right and get some ideas for more teas to add. I find the topic a bit overwhelming because it has been a hobby for years.

Good idea! I thought that rooibos was spelt like that not rooibosch? Not sure now. And Afrikans has an extra A to make Afrikaans I think. Good idea though!
I think it sounds good. Other types of tea are: sage tea (good for sore throats!), there are lots of fruit teas eg grapefruit, green tea, ginger tea, camomile tea (like in Peter Rabbit).
Just a few ideas.

Having a cup of unusual tea now! Have been inspired!

Thanks. Yeah ... Rooibosch is like the Afrikaans spelling but it is also known as Rooibos - I think both spellings are correct. Thanks for correcting my spelling of Afrikaans, too.

I had never heard of Sage Tea - I'll check it out. I can't bear chamomile tea but that's probably because I was always given it when I was sick.

Cheers,

Hi there!
biggrin

How about Fennel tea? A great digestive and carminative aid.
There's also chamomile of course. winkeye
Also Ginger and fresh Lemon juice, or Elderflower tea for cold/flu, and Chai (Indian version of tea with milk and *lots* of sugar and spices) which is a digestive aid as well as general pick me up.

There is also a Rooibosh version of chai.

Oh and there's Dandelion which is great for cleansing the liver and the skin, but it does taste like pondwater if you stew it for too long... yuk , and Raspberry Leaf tea which is good for menstrual cramps (and also for toning the uterus in the *later* stage of pregnancy).

Any others spring to mind and I'll let you know. smiley
