Posted Mar 5, 2009 by TRiG (Ireland) Human rights under attack in Uganda. Look it up. Excellent coverage on the blog "Box Turtle Bulletin" I've not cycled since my bike was stolen almost two years ago. I really must buy another and get back to it. I'd like to cycle to work, but there's nowhere here to safely leave a bike, so I walk instead.
I remember visiting a friend's house in the suburbs of Dublin. On the nearby main road, there was a cycle lane. Actually, the lane wasn't on the road: it was on the footpath. And every time a minor road joined the main road, the cycle lane stopped. So you had to give way to traffic joining the main road. Ridiculous.
Why isn't there a cyclist smiley? We have one for bikers.

Posted Mar 8, 2009 by LukeSlomka my local council put them in the stangest of places, and as you say they start and end with no real sense. i would love to know the rational reason for this kind of activity. i am tiold they get european money to creat cycle lanes so just get it and spend it. i suppose it creats work for people but its a shame they are not planned better. the european money thing is just something i have heard, it would be good to get the facts.
