As to the coloured map problem, was that the one that was unsolveable in two dimensions so a toroid was needed?

I felt Piet Hein's achievements needn't be lumped into a single entry on him, but would each stand alone, so supereggs are mentioned there - there is even a link to a model of a superegg you can build yourself.
2.this is a topic for another entry. I think the coloured map on the plane is a different problem from trying it on a toroid. All I know is that Piet Hein thought about the problem.
