Final polisher!!

Whoever gives this a final polish. I have looked through Andrew's excellent sub-editing job and I have just one minor quibble. In the first paragraph 'to more than a melennia ago' would look better as 'more than a thousand years'. The former looks clumsy IMHO and is also a typo I think.

Question:

Should the Header Read 'Sumobeya' or 'Sumo Beya'?

Hi Ashley,
Sumobeya is correct. Andrew did really well to get through those minefields without blowing himself up.laugh

<butts in>

I've known Andrew (In real life) for many years. It's funny he should be a sub editor when in real life, he's been known to spell shrimp with a 'c' laugh

Oh well, he applies himself I suppose biggrin

BTW, Andrew told me this entry was really interesting, I didn't give the chance to point it out in PR, but I just read it and it is great ok !

Just one error, in the Basho paragraph:

"The aim of most rikishi is simply to achieve a majority of wins, or kachikoshi. Kachikoshi ensures the rikishi against demotion, and can even lead to a promotion if it is part of a good series of results. A minority of losses, or makekoshi,..."

The last line should be, "A MAJORITY of losses, or makekoshi,..."

Otherwise, wrestlers can choose between a majority of wins or a minority of losses. Guess most athletes would prefer that. biggrin

Final personal quibble: I think Takamisakari should be included as the current showman in Sumo.

Otherwise, good article. ok

You're obviously a bit more current than I am. I'll keep an eye out for him. As to minority of losses - fair point but I'm sure it will pass under most radars as they'll be mentally exhausted by thenbiggrin

Very impressed with this entry. Found it very interesting. I did pick up on the "minority of losses" thing too though.

Don't mind it Andrew, every sub misses something or something further

The sub for my Seinfeld entry mispelled 'Jujyfruits' doh
