You lost the quote from the opening as the rest of hte article makes no sense as a result as it was referred to in other parargraphs.

I've shouted at the H2G2 eds page today and am getting action on the issue. Will refrence the original article once it gets posted on front page in a nice thread for all true h2g2 fans.

Well, the thinking was that those who know the relevance would see why we've published it in our birthday week (sadly, once it had wormed its way through the editing process it was too late for the day itself) and wouldn't need reminding, while those who didn't see the relevance wouldn't be confused by a quote which was included just to point out that some people think digital watches are 'neat'.

As I said to DD at the time, it was a superb piece of research that we felt didn't need propping up with a quote from our founder when it was strong enough to stand on its own.
