Another nit to pick -- "De Mendacio, who wrote Retractions in around 395 AD before he was made a Bishop" looks like a good case of a suitable pseudonym -- his name appears to mean "On (the subject of) Lying".

And another one:

I would assume that you're talking about planting false info so that moles will leak it and be found out? If so, use counter-espionage over espionage in the first clause.
