Shameful confession time: I don't like Seinfeld. It annoys me. The characters bother me on so many levels that I can't even begin to start going into those levels. I also don't find it very funny.

There needs to be a support group for people like me. People who've been to a party and have had a Seinfeld quote thrown at them and not understood. Mine was someone saying "These pretzels are making me thirsty!". Lord help me I offered the man a drink. smiley

laugh I got a response like this from someone I know, and I tried to look at it from an objective view. I actually didn't like it when I scrutinized it. 'Why is that funny?' 'That's too absurd' but I eventually loosened up and enjoyed it. I think I hated the show for about 3 years until I started watching regularly (To see what all the fuss was about) and now I watch it religiously.

All I can hope is that this entry helped you. I'll admit Seinfeld quotes are annoying most of the time, but just as necessary.

The fact that the characters are bothersome is a central point in Seinfeld's humor, I believe. They're so self-centered and petty that it's humorous... at least, to those who practice "pity laughter." biggrin

Yeah, and it was the reason the finale worked.

I actually like the characters because I don't pay too much attention to fake selfishness smiley
