Posted Oct 24, 2008 by Dmitri Gheorgheni ...I will never hear 'The Auld Dun Cow' again without thinking of this story.
Thanks for sharing this fascinating historical note.

Posted Oct 25, 2008 by Xanatic, I´m loveable dammit! Yes I had never heard about this before. Quite an interesting story. I´d heard of streets flowing with milk and honey, but never beer and molasses. There was also a fire in a Danish sugar factory a few years back, which resulted in a lake of caramel being created.

Posted Nov 24, 2008 by Clive the flying ostrich - Thingite Warlord Emeritus Icy thought I should write up the solar flare / telegraph one, but I'm not in the habit of writing guide entries, despite all the copious research I do for QI.
Perverse of me, I know.
