Posted Feb 4, 2003 by Blue Bird No other animal on Earth would run 26 mi without stopping. Amazing long lasting self-torment, and shortened life. Sorry. I really feel sorry. Jung Wing.

Posted Feb 22, 2003 by Blue Bird we talking about: no stopping! I believe the dogs get breaks on the way! Truthfully I don't know the distance and the speed as they run.

Posted Feb 23, 2003 by Ausnahmsweise, wie üblich (Consistently inconsistent) The Idatarod is around 1200 miles and the shortest ever time was 9+ days. That's 133 miles per day. I suspect the dogs run more than 26.2 non-stop.
Yes - I'm a crazy marathon runner. Although I haven't run a full marathon for a couple of years.

Posted Feb 23, 2003 by Sea Change Canids, Humans and Thylacines (the baddies seen in Jurassic Park I) are unusual in that they are cursorial hunters. It could be said that marathons are natural to the human species.
Most other predators and prey can only run for short distances, and rely on high alert sensing or sneaky pounces to avoid being eaten or to get lunch.
