To all of those who may be thinking of going for virgin broadband in the UK don't.
I signed up to virgin broadband as they had a deal at the time of house phone unlimited calls free all time and 2MB unlimited broadband for 20 pounds. All I have had since is headache. First they come to and install it and the guy basically says "Oh its going to need two people" shoots of and never returns. I then get charged for failing to be in when he called round, which I did get refunded for.
Second time out they actually fit it all. Picked up phone and someone else was on the line, turns out they crossed the line with someone else in the local area. Crap. Four days latter they finally come around to fix that problem in the mean time i had to phone everyone I knew and tell them not to phone me untill its fixed otherwise I annoy the other guy.
Sit down to use computer and internet is running not at 2MB but at 500kb phone them up, engineer comes out, faulty modem. So gives me a new one. Fantastic I think. Got on line and its running at 1.7MB which is fine. Afternoon arrives and it drops down to below 500kb crap. Phone technical support. Some guy in India fobs me. Same thing for about the next 20 days. Fine in mornings but once 15:00 pass the connection drops to below 500kb.
Finally speak to a helpfull indian whom does some ping tests, tracerts and download tests and agrees there is a problem. Enginerr will fix it in the next few weeks. Three weeks latter still got problem. Back on the phone, another week worth of useless people, get another helpfull guy. Goes through all the tests and agress there is a problem. Refunds me one months worth of phone bills.
Oh and by the way my phone bill for the first month was 460 pounds to calls to people in south africa and I know noone in south africa, yes you guessed it, they charged me for the calls that guy made on his phone that they had spliced me in to by accident. Took a month to get that money back of them.
Anyway on with the internet. He says it will be fixed in a months time as they are upgrading the hardware at there end. One months pass nothing, Ring them up again, It will be fixed by end of July, then after that fixed by end of August. its now October and it still runs between 250-500kb in the afternoons making it next to impossible for me to use internet, hence why I am seldom on line in navy field. Final straw yesterday was when it hit a new all time low of 190kb, phoned them up to cancel it.
Explained the situation to the guy who said that he could not cancel me as was still in contract time, andif he did I would be fined the remaining months worth of basic bills. I pointed out to him that it was the lack of fullfilment on there part in the contract that was in error and thats why I was leaving and basically was told, tuff, you have internet and its faster than nothing so its your problem, talk to the tech people again and explain situation or cut you off and you pay fine.
Not happy I told him they will be rexeiving notification of the Ombudsmon in the next few weeks then and hung up.

I wish you all with that! They're clearly in the wrong.
