Vin Diesel's recent movie "xXx" has probably one of the worst examples of a "stunt" avalanche.
In it, the hero casually tosses a couple of explosive charges over his shoulders, deliberately causing an avalanches, and proceeds to outrun the thing on a snowboard.
The effects are reasonably good, but it does run the risk of giving young men testosterone-fuelled ideas. Too many snowboarders are killed every winter already by avalanches they themselves started. It's to be hoped that that movie, and others like it, don't cause more.
