Posted Aug 16, 2009 by Recumbentman Yes, but unfortunately my sound has gone all silent on me. Wi-fi router blues. Will sort eventually.
The Ukulele Hooley was a terrific success. It's a long time since I've smiled all afternoon and evening, in between whooping and whistling. My own set went fine, finishing with Tulips copied from Nick Lucas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZMHJX4b9bU

(But wouldn't it be weird if there were never any coincidences?)

Posted Aug 17, 2009 by Recumbentman Is it 'Wittgenstein for Beginners' by John Heaton & Judy Groves? It is good . . . I seem to remember that it quotes W very faithfully.

Posted Aug 17, 2009 by Edward the Bonobo - andafewmore Yes. But it seems to be called 'Introducing...'
Those pictorial books can be patchy - but the first one, 'Marx for Beginners' by Ruis is rather good - especially on Marx's philosophical context.
btw - please have a wonder over to 'Ask...' where I'm inviting people to get me into classical music.

Posted Aug 17, 2009 by Recumbentman OK . . . you've got me rereading that W for Beginners! If it is the same book, there is an interesting chess position on p100. Not checkmate, not quite stalemate either, but very tight.
