Posted Oct 16, 2002 by Primord I'd suggest making your own bread for much better quality sandwiches-and you don't have to be a mathematical genius to work it out-just go for the pre-mix packs-they contain the right amount of everything-all you have to add is the correct amount of water, and depending on the type of bread, oil (usually Olive)
one of the best mixes I use is the unbelievable Garlic & Rosemary Foccacia-a fantastic flatbread-that can be eaten plainly with butter or margarine or filled with any of your favourite ingredients-chargrilled chicken, wafer-thin ham-whatever!
It's just a case of making the dough, resting and proving the dough, and then 15 minutes in a preheated oven-sheer heaven.
other breads to try to make for yourself are plain white, granary, naan, pitta-the list is endless-give it a go, no more dull tasteless bread.

Posted Oct 16, 2002 by Stephen And you can always use a bread maker. They're very good and can be quite cheap.
The bread is about one third the price of the pap you buy in supermarkets and about 6 milion percent better.

Posted Oct 16, 2002 by Primord yes-quite right Stephen-I got my breadmaker around one month ago-for £39.99-cheap and economical to run-and no more damp hankie flavoured bread.
The home made bread is so soft and moist you can cut right down on whatever butter/spread you'd normally use
