Any chance of this article being reviewed for factual correctness? For example, if you take a look at the census info, or ask local residents you'll find that although many of the shops are Turkish, the proportion of Turkish residents is quite small. They are not the established community at all. And it's a bit o' bunkum to say people don't know they're living in Harringay.

I've moved out of the area now, but you're right, the demographic has definitely changed in the last five years (which was when the original article was written).
It could also do with an update to mention the new retail park if anyone's game - there was only the old Homebase there at the time of writing and the Arena Retail Park's been the most major chance of the last few years.

If you really think it's a bit o'bunkum to say that people don't know they're living in Harringay, how come so many of the shops and signs (including Iceland, who should really know better) call it Haringey?
And of course there are roadsigns that say 'Borough of Haringey' as well (and refer to the area as 'St Ann's' which doesn't really help). If you've just arrived in London from Bulgaria or Albania or Poland - or from Halifax to study at Middlesex Uni - and you see those signs, or the other ones that say Haringay or Harringey, how are you supposed to have a clue what's going on?
Not everyone happens to have a great-grandmother that owned a greengrocers on Umfreville Road, or remembers Greyhound Racing at Harringay Stadium being on World of Sport.
And I'm sure if you ask most people shopping on Green Lanes whether they're in Haringey or Harringay, they won't know or particularly care. That was something that worried me, and that's why I wrote the article in the first place.

You're right, some people don't know. What I wanted to challenge was any notion that most people don't know. Most people living here are not transient, temporary residents, theough there is a significant proportion who are. Excsuie the stridence of my previous posting.

I would suggest that this article urgently needs updating.
On the subject of Green Lanes itself, while there is still a number of restaurants serving (delicious)Turkish food, there is now much more diversity including Italian, Modern British and modern family friendly cafes. We now also have French and Hungarian bakeries as well as as shops selling North African/French produce. In fact it is a regular foodies paradise. Obviously (you make the point yourself) there is a big new shopping park and it is worthwhile to mention that there is a lot of work being done to improve the green spaces in this area.
By the way I'm not sure that local residents' groups would be terribly happy at the 'advertisement' that local licensing laws do not exist. They have worked hard to get them enforced in the past five years and although there are one or two places that infringe them certainly, it is not the 'free for all' it once was.
On the whole, I see you had a positive view of the area you lived in and the article had some interesting history in it. I think it is a bit of a shame that you chose to devote so much space to a very minor problem of spelling the name of the area. I'm not sure people who LIVE here for any length of time (like most of my neighbours who seem to have been here forever and not one of them Turkish btw) get confused, its often non Harringay residents who muddle the two up.
It is a great place to live and like most communities it is evolving and this entry now needs to reflect that.
