Welcome to the h2g2 bug list, which is where we collect all the bugs that get reported on this site. As we develop each new version of h2g2, we will try to fix as many of the bugs on this list as we can, within the constraints of available resources.

Please note that inclusion of a bug in this list in no way guarantees that we'll be fixing it any time soon (or at all). As always, we can only develop the site within the constraints of available resources, and this list should be taken with the obligatory pinch of salt.

Known Bugs on h2g2

152: Large Left Embedded Pictures - If your entry is quite short and contains a relatively large LEFT embeded PICTURE, then when you preview the entry, the picture causes the preview form controls and text to flow to the right of the picture. If it contains a relatively large RIGHT embeded PICTURE, when you preview it, the picture appears over the top of the preview form controls and text. It previews correctly with a CENTER embeded PICTURE. A similar problem happens with the entry Moderation Tool sometimes, forcing the moderation tool box off screen – which is not a good thing!

164: Entry Already Recommended - Sometimes when Scouts try to recommend an already-recommended entry, they don't get the normal 'this entry has been recommended' message, but instead they get 'You can only recommend entries which are public user entries for inclusion in the Guide'... but the entries are public user! An example is this entry.

207: Don't Prevent Previously-Edited Entries From Being Recommendable by Scouts - Currently Scouts cannot pick entries from PR if they have been the source for an Edited Entry already. This should not be the case.

247: 'Not Found' Page Errors - On the Goo 'Not Found' page the hovertext for the footnote is wrong, and the link to the Bug Report Forum forces you into Alabaster. Also the Alabaster page has broken links, and needs regenerating.

249: PULLQUOTE More Orange in Goo - Make the PULLQUOTE text colour in Goo a little more orange, as it is hard to read on monochrome screens.

251: Goo Forum Frames Not Showing Italics - In the left-hand frame in Goo forums, editors are not shown in bold italics...

353: Bad Message on ScoutRecommendations for Non-Scouts - When non-Scouts visit ScoutRecommendations they get the error 'The following error occurred: You cannot allocate recommended entries to sub editors unless you are logged in as an Editor.', which needs to be changed to something more appropriate.

359: Personal Space Edited Entries Message Wrong in Goo - Goo displays the wrong message on Personal Spaces if you don't have any Edited Entries. Alabaster displays the correct one.

434: Extraneous LEDs in Writing Workshop on h2g2 - An extra LED is appearing in the Writing Workshop, as described here.

437: Brunel My Conversations Popup Target Error - In Brunel only, clicking on the My Conversations button a second time does not reload the open conversations window but instead opens a new window.

448: Missing link on New Users page - If a Researcher deletes their nickname it becomes an unclickable space in the New Users list.

450: Complaints Button Requires JavaScript - If a browser doesn't have JavaScript enabled, the complaints button does not work in Goo and Alabaster.

462: Regreturn error page needs slight wording tweak - The 'regreturn' page needs a slight tweak when it comes back with an error message. It currently says 'If you still have problems, please email the address below.' The email address is at the top of the page, rather than below.

508: Bug in logout feature in frames view - When logging out in the frames view, the logout confirmation page only loads in the navigation bar in both Goo and Alabaster.

572: Pre-moderation on the dev site affecting all other DNA sites - The account that created this entry is on pre-moderation on the dev site, and any articles created on other DNA sites are affected. On h2g2 they are showing the pre-moderation message, but not going into a queue. On other sites they appear to be going into the queue and being dealt with as normal. Conversations are not affected. This also affects accounts put on pre-moderation on h2g2 - the account is pre-moderated on all sites.

582: 'Peer Review' missed off browser title in Brunel - The browser window loses the title 'Peer Review' on the 'More Conversations' pages in Brunel. They should have the title as in Alabaster and Classic.

583: Browser title is wrong - When an Entry is removed from review in the Alabaster and Classic skins, the title says 'Submit for Review.' In Brunel it says 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. They should all say 'Removed from Review'.
