wheelie bins and their dangers(permalink)

Wheelie bins ARE dangerous and have recently caused 3 tragic and unnecessary deaths on the Batemoor estate in South Sheffield.

In a four month period there have been 250 REPORTED wheelie bin fires in Sheffield alone. When the fire officers have attended these reported fires there has been evidence of other bins having been set alight.

Please, if you have wheelie bins, especially the blue ones used for collecting paper, make sure they are far enough away from your home so that in the dreadful event of a fire, you can still exit your home safely. All plastic wheelie bins are a fire hazzard and should be kept well away from windows and doors. If you can put them in your back garden, please do so.

It is important that our council is aware of the dangers and therefore I would urge you to contact your local councillor to register your concern.

Help save lives, one day it could be your own.
