Building a new Social Network in Middle age(permalink)

Posted by Lesley Williams on Sunday, 30th October 2005 Last updated Thursday, 26th January 2006
Am I the only person who finds it difficult to make friends now that I have reached that wonderful middle age. Don't get me wrong I'm not a saddo who is unable to string a sensible and lively sentence together , rather someone who finds herself in a new location and apart from accosting unsuspecting people in Tesco's doesn't know how to build a new social network.
At work I am assertive, sociable, challenging and articulate but come Friday night I go home and seldom speak to anyone bar shop assistants until Monday morning. I am not talking about dating, nor am I looking to find Mr Right, I just would like to meet other people like myself , female and/or male who would like to have some lively discussion, meet for coffee, go for a walk or even just phone each other just to say, Hi I'm glad you're there. If you too are finding it difficult to meet other like-minded folk or you have some brilliant ideas about how to go about building a new social network, please send me a message. PS it has to be something that doesn't cost the earth because as we all know single people are penalised financially at every turn, so funds are limited!
