Up there with 'Cor!', 'Zowee!', 'Gadzooks!' and 'Blimey guv, lor luv a duck!', 'Wow!' is one of the all time cool words. The Oxford English Dictionary defines 'Wow!' as 'expressing astonishment or admiration', but that definition is on the same page as 'work ethic', so we'd advise you take that definition with a pinch of salt.
