Usually you get a family and you’re stuck with it. Very few of them function properly although politicians still believe they’re effective (but then politicians believe heavy bombing and spin-doctors are effective so what do they know?) If you’re not happy with the family members you already have you can rent more from an agency: a sister or grandchild for example could be yours for as much (or as little) as $500 an hour. As Charlie Sheen said so aptly of prostitutes: 'You don't pay them to stay the night. You pay them to leave the next morning.'
