Bombing of Guinness Trust flats, Chelsea.Chelsea, London.I am writing in regard to the bombing of the Guinness Trust flats in Chelsea, London, on the night of the 23rd February 1944. My Mother, Agnes Fletcher (her maiden name was Rogers), lost her parents, Walter and Agnes that night in the destroyed block of flats and, having read recent newspaper articles and a book whose author, Donald James Wheal was also involved, she would like to let anybody know who was involved, or had friends or relatives involved, that there is a memorial dedicated to those that lost their lives that night in Morden Cemetery in Surrey. She was 29 at the time and had married my Father Edward in 1939 so was not living in the flats at the time of the bombing but had been up until she got married.
It seems that my Mother is the only one who visits it so she would like to bring it to the attention of anyone who is interested. I think that occassion was known as London’s Mini Blitz. If anyone would like more information they can contact me.
