Bristol Older People’s Forum has published its much-anticipated charter for older people. The document is the result of six months work, involving hundreds of older people in Bristol.
The result is a clear statement of the kind of changes local pensioners want to see to tackle the many problems they currently face.
The charter sets out over 80 proposals for action to improve the lives of Bristol’s older people - in health and social services, housing, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, cleaning up the local environment, and opening up new education, employment and leisure opportunities.
The charter is very wide-ranging and represents one of the most comprehensive statements by older people themselves produced anywhere in the country.
It is a contribution both to the Older People’s Strategy currently being written by the Council, and to the public debate prior to May’s local elections. You can get a copy from BOPF.
