synopsis
A young girl has been sent to her bedroom as a punishment for hurting the boy-next-door. In her room she thinks about what has just happened. The doorbell rings. She creeps out onto the landing to discover her mother showing affection to the man-next-door. The young girl retreats into her mother's bedroom to find refuge inside her father's coat hanging in the wardrobe.
short fact
LAZY EYE was made as part of a residency at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (BOVTS) in 2003. I was approached by the school to develop an idea and work with their students in making a short film as part of a vocational training programme.

The idea for the film came from a memory of my grandmother's house, in particular her wardrobe. I then developed a story around this memory. All my films to date have been an exploration of memory and place.

The film was made over a three-month period working with a team of BOVTS students from the Stage Management BA course as part of their training for film and television.

An okay portrayal of a girls point-of-view story but without originality and wasn't very interesting although the period was captured, costumed and art-directed well. 2/5
