Gemma Burditt
animator,   director

biography

biog
Gemma Burditt grew up in Somerset and moved to London to study Theatre crafts and Puppet Theatre in 1999 at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Here she developed skills in prop making, costume construction and became very involved in Puppetry. After working for a few small Theatre companies, she began to experiment in using projected animations in theatre and soon her interest in animation took over. Gemma went on to study Animation direction for 2 Years at the National Film and Television School where she has experimented with many techniques and performance styles.

Here she made her Graduation film "Night Shift" which has been shown world wide at various international festivals and since graduating earlier this year has been working on collaborative projects with H2Dance,creating visuals for Musicians for live performance and has just completed her first Music promo for the Electric Proms with Warp Films and the BBC for the track "Dragonfly" by M.Craft.

Gemma has also recently created an Art Break Stint for MTV.
ambitions
I presently have a couple of short film ideas in development although I would love to work on more music videos or animation / theatre collaboration projects.
influences, inspirations and favourite films
There are many films that inspire me. I love the animation "Tango by Zbig Rybczynski and "door" by David Anderson. I also draw a lot of inspiration from theatre companies like Improbable theatre and Knee High as I think their work is often more playful and imaginative than you find in film.
