Wendy Bevan-Mogg

biography

biog
Wendy started her career in film working for the UK arthouse distributors Artificial Eye and Sales Agents Pathe International. She then took part in the UK Film Council development executive training scheme. Since 2004 she has been working as a freelance producer. Her first film, the 12 min, 35mm short RARE BOOKS AND MANUSCRIPTS (which she adapted from a short story by Toby Litt) was directed by Bruce Webb, and won one of the 2005 Maya Vison / Film Council Completion Awards. It premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2005 and is currently doing the festival circuit rounds. Wendy’s next film was the HD Cam short FINE, dir. Jack Herbert, starring Kris Marshall, which has been shortlisted for one of the Capital FX Awards 2006 and the UK Film Council Completion Awards 2006. A day at Ealing studios resulted in STIFFY (dir. Jacqueline Wright), which was one of the six Straight 8 films selected to screen in Cannes 2005. The 4 min, 16mm short EVOL (dir. Chris Vincze) was shot in July 2005 and premiered at Clermont Ferrand 2006. Wendy was then approached by Screen South to produce Magali Charrier’s THE SPACE BETWEEN US, one of the region’s 2005 Digital Shorts. This part live action, part animated piece is due for delivery in February 2006. Future film projects include a black comedy feature project, a short developed with the BBC; and there are a few silly weekend shoots on the cards too. Wendy is also one of the directors of the production company Kubista, which produces comedy for radio, television and film. Our radio pilot NONE SHALL PASS was recorded in February 2006.
ambitions
I hope to move on to feature film making this year, and have several projects in development. However I'll continue to make shorts; and have just recorded my first piece of comedy for radio.
