biog Mark is a screenwriter, author and historian.
His debut novel, The Devil's Plague, was released December 2007 in the UK and January 2008 in the US. More recently, Mark co-edited Scrimgeour's Small Scribbling Diary, a collection of World War I diaries by midshipman, Alexander Scrimgeour, which were named as one of the deals of the 2007 Frankfurt Book Fair. Upon its release in September 2008, the book received unanimous praise from the press, and garnered excellent reviews from the Daily Mail and The Times amongst others. Scrimgeour's Small Scribbling Diary went on to be named as one of the best military history titles of 2008 by the Independent on Sunday. Mark's next book, London's Curse: The Strange Case of Tutankhamun in the West End, will be published by IAP in 2011.
With screenwriting and directing partner Chris Croucher, Mark has recently completed The Beachcombers, a short film funded by Film London and Southern Film Exposure. Starring Charity Wakefield (Sense and Sensibility) and Rasmus Hardiker (Saxondale), The Beachcombers won the Audience Award at the ITV London Best of Borough Awards, which were presented at Bafta on July 23rd, 2008.
On the back of the success of The Beachcombers, Mark and Chris, along with their producer Michael Berliner, are shooting another short film, In Passing, starring Lesley Sharp and Sean Pertwee, in January 2009.
