Anastasia Kirillova

biography

biog
After completing my film and TV studies at University of Westminster I started off working in commercials as a directors' assistant, helping the directors to write and develop their treatments which I still do on a freelance basis. However the main focus is building up my director's showreel. During the past four years I have managed to make a short film for the Nike Young Directors awards, another short off my own back which has played at various film festivals, a documentary for Swedish television and a few other small projects.
ambitions
Like any director the dream is to eventually direct a feature film or a feature documentary but for now I'm quite happy working on short films, documentaries and music videos.
project in development
At the moment I'm looking for funding for one of my more ambitious short film projects I'm planning to shoot next summer. Meanwhile I'm keeping an eye out and applying for the different funding schemes and competitions as well as preparing to co-direct a test commercial with another female director I've recently teamed up with to do certain types of projects.
influences, inspirations and favourite films
I love character based films which explore human relationships. Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders, P T Anderson and Tarkovsky are my big heros. I'm also very inspired by female directors Clare Denis, Sally Potter and Miranda July. In terms of documentaries I love the work of the Russian director, Viktor Kossakovsky.
