site help | Film Network membership
why become a member?
Becoming a member of Film Network gives you a number of benefits. Members are able to rate and comment on films, send and receive messages as well as join in discussions with other members. You’ll also get your own profile page where you can tell other Film Network users more about yourself. This page also helps you to keep track of your comments. Also if you are a filmmaker and would like to submit a film to Film Network, you need to become a member in order to do so. how to create your membership
To create your membership, just click on the link at the top of every page. If you have already signed up to another BBC site, you only need to sign in. To become a member you’ll need to fill in a simple form which will take a couple of minutes. This membership will allow you to use other BBC sites as well. When you create a membership you will be asked to provide the following information:
Once you’ve completed your registration, you will be sent an email to confirm your email address. Click the link in this email to return to Film Network. You will then be re-directed to the Film Network Welcome page. If you are involved in making films, in any capacity (e.g. director, other crew or cast), you can add other elements to your profile page by clicking the on the link ‘add biog, credits and specialisms to my profile page’. If you do not wish to add these extra features, just click on the ‘leave and take me to my profile page’. For more information, see our site help on profile pages. why we need your email address
We need your email address for moderation purposes. If you post something on Film Network that we think is unsuitable (see our house rules) we will send you an email telling you of any action we take (eg removing your comment). We will not email you for any other reason, spam you, or pass your address on to anyone outside the BBC (see moderation and hosting and the BBC’s privacy policy for more information). signing in
Once you are a member, you’ll need to sign in each time you visit the site. If you want to be automatically recognised, click the ‘remember me’ box when you sign in. This creates a file known as a cookie in your web browser that stores your details. It cannot damage your computer in anyway. It’s not a good idea to tick ‘remember me’ on a public computer (eg in an internet café or a library) as other people will be able to make comments that appear as you. To sign out click the link found at the top right of every page. changing your details
If you change your email address, you need to update your membership details. You can do this by signing in as normal and clicking the ‘Retrieve my details’ link at the top of any page. You can also change your password or secret question in the same way. For security reasons, you’ll be asked to re-enter your password before you can change your details. what to do if you forget your password
On the sign-in page click ‘forgotten your password?’ and, when prompted, enter your member name and the answer to your secret question. You’ll then be allowed to create a new password. |
