synopsis
A pawn guided by higher powers, pq finds himself in a living chess game. As his player manouvres him through the streets of Bristol, landmarks begin to echo chessmen with uncanny accuracy.

Rooks become castles, and knights horses. Pursued by opposing pawns, pq reaches 'the end of the board', and is left with nowhere else to go. In a dramatic turnaround, pq's astonished enemies melt away as he transforms into a glorious queen.
short fact
When Bristol-based production company, 'Calling The Shots' invited entries for their 'Mini Masterpieces' scheme, I took the opportunity to write a new piece for them, highlighting Bristol locations. Strategy is a quirky tale of deities and diamante on the streets, and i was delighted to be chosen against keen competition to make it.

A really good, well made short film. The imagery of the chess game interfused with the 'real' scenes was brilliant. The finale as he becomes a 'queen'....magic.

A well thought out piece. I see Fiona Maher has done most of the work on this, well done Fiona. Hopefully we can see more of your work. I'll look out for it.
