synopsis
Martin goes to the pub to meet friends for an innocent afternoon drink. But soon it becomes clear that he is hiding a terrible secret.
This is a moral tale: and the moral is simple: Follow Martin if you dare. And if you do dare, wear padded trousers.
short fact
I tried to grow a moustache. Have done a few times. And this was the inspiration for the film. I am drawn to outsiders. And I empathise with and envy non-conformists. I shot the film over 3 days in a pub in the East End of London. We rehearsed to a minimum to keep it live, I didn’t storyboard, I had a written shotlist scrumpled up in my pocket.

My advice to myself and anyone else is: go with what most excites you, follow your instinct, and make your own film. Not someone else’s. I hope you enjoy this film.

Nice, conventionally shot short film. Liked the subtextual concept of the story but I didn't feel the film justified it completely... maybe because of the lack of rehearsal/pacing of dialogue... ?

Loved the performance and delivery of the barman. '...Well there was some there before' was a classic line... very funny.

Brilliant. This is a surreal masterpiece. The comic timing is just lovely. And the dark atmosphere of the pub is perfect.

The message is an important one and it comes across well.

Very good casting but this felt like a small joke or a commercial stretched out into a short film. Hilarious in places but needed more depth to sustain the length.
