Shades of Metropolis and 1984. Black, white and a dash of colour tell the story for me. Excellent.

Excellent, I don't think I have enjoyed an experimental short so much. Great atmosphere and delightfully silly but not so daft you lose the meaning. Thank you very much Mr Theobald, sorry I eman Mr Burrill.

Speaks volumes and I agree about the Eraserhead comparison but still very original and intimately human. Possibly of no interest whatsoever but the bird singing is a Willow Warbler between April and June.
