i disagree with AR, slow west vultures borrows from earlier russian animation with constructivism influences, and for a beginning animatior there's nothing wrong with incorporating what had already proven to be interesting and challenging many years ago. i think your character timing could be improved by studying animation fundamentals and using those in combination with the choppy, limited animation feel you were going for. i also loved seeing the non-narrative approach to such a great song... good job evoking the mood but not translating it literally. on a side note - SEE MOUNTAIN GOATS LIVE AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN they never dissapoint.

Excellent result for a first project! The way fragments of the original song narrative have been developed to produce the abstract story within the film is superb.
With regards to some of the other comments here, I find little or no point in music videos that just relay the words of the song in a visual format. If you are familiar with the song, surely it is better to have a video that offers a different perspective rather than one that spoon-feeds you the emotions or story of which you were already aware?

I loved it! And as for dystopian cliché, when has there ever been a film, book or otherwise about vultures running a factory? The only cliché I see hear is the reference to ‘the realness’ and ‘the spirit’ of the music.

Fantastic! Its the exception rather than the rule that music videos add anything to the song. In this case it does and a poignant narrative is played out through the excellent animation & song.
