synopsis
When a deaf girl chances on an abandoned wheelchair, she discovers the incredible secret of 'the magic mile'. Finding herself in a strange and unfamiliar world, she picks up on the trail of the wheelchair's owner who reveals that even miracles have their limits.
short fact
The Magic Mile was filmed over three days at Jury's Gap near Camber Sands, Kent. It was our first short film and proved to be a fantastic experience. The Evening Standard's Neil Norman described the film as a 'miniature masterclass in how to create heightened atmosphere with the barest minimum of dialogue, a pair of actors and a beach." Prints of the film have travelled around the world and we're immensely proud of it. Toby Meakins(Director/Producer) and Simon Allen(Writer).

Great! very nice little piece.

I am impressed by the concept and the way it is presented. Good cinematography and use of shots. Also I am quite imptressed with the feel created by the lighting good use of filters or was it? hmmmm...

The title while giving away the "plot" adds to your anticipation of the meeting. A brilliant idea well acted - could be developped into a full-length film. As someone else commented, it makes you forgot about your own minor ailments

I first saw this on the televised shorts series last year and have spent months telling everyone about it. One of the most powerful shorts I have ever seen. Superbly executed - well done.

The story is perfect for it's timing. It works out like a paranormal dream. Being as I'am disabled myself with aspergers I can see myself inside that story, one minute I'm disabled then as I walk into another space I'm cured. I wonder what it could be like experiencing life as a normal for a brief moment of time!

A very interesting idea executed beautifully. great fluidity in the camera movement that at once gives scope of the scale of the locations but also retains the intimacy between the audience and the characters.
