synopsis
Special People is an improvised comedy following a neurotic filmmakers latest project -a pretentious film featuring disabled kids climbing a mountain. Jasper slowly cracks up as he is bombarded with flack by his uncooperative students. In the end however, we all need to find a way to work together…
short fact
The idea for the film came from a particularly disastrous community project where one of the disabled participants had a lamp explode in her lap and another was given an epileptic fit by the feedback on a video monitor

I really enjoyed this film, the lead reminded me of Basil Fawlty. It was was well shot with an effective soundtrack, the kids were excellant as well.

Lovely film and to see that it was indeed digital was surprising. I thought it had a great 'film' quality. The lead actor was very believable and the kids great. He was very "Cleese" like at the end and I am a Cleese fan. This is a superb effort - well done.

For me, this is a great example of what is fundamentally a good idea not really panning out in practice. Getting up a mountain as a metaphor for the difficulties experiences from by kids with special needs sees life from an external POV.

The dickhead director, meant to provide comedy from his crassness, although excellent played, is really irritating - particularly as this is a really slow film. For the right audience however, it is probably a great joke but for me, shorter would have been much better.
