The short film Special People has charmed audiences around the world since its premiere in 2005, and now the film's makers are hoping a full-length feature version will do the same. Shot in April 2007 and finished in the nick of time to premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on Tuesday 21st August, the pic is the second feature from West Midlands filmmaker Justin Edgar (his first was the raucous 2001 comedy Large).

Actor/co-writer Dominic Coleman reprises his role from the short as Jasper, a would-be auteur who takes out his frustrated filmmaking ambitions on a group of wheelchair users at a community school. Jasper's plans to make a film which literally depicts the uphill struggle he perceives his students face is humorously and warmly depicted, with winning performances from all of the cast (although particular mention should go to Coleman himself - channelling Alan Partridge - and David Proud as a student who catches the documentary filmmaking buzz).Watch the video above to see interviews with Justin Edgar and the Special People cast.
