Simon Miller's debut feature, Seachd - The Inaccessible Pinnacle - may have played to enthusiastic audiences at the Edinburgh Film Festival, but for some reason it didn't impress six members of BAFTA, who declined to enter the film as the UK entry in the 2007 Academy Awards Best Foreign-Language Film category.

Uniquely, the film - made for less than £700,000 - is the first feature to be shot in Scottish Gaelic for over 25 years, which is good news for the 60,000 or so people currently speaking the language in Scotland. Seachd (pronounced 'Shack') was shot entirely on the Isle of Skye, using a predominantly non-professional cast, and draws on the rich Gaelic storytelling tradition and the stunning vistas of the western island.
