short fact
"Guy 101 is a true stoy about someone I met on the internet. The film is a reponse to experiencing a very human tale through such a cold medium. By using graphical user interfaces as a narrative filmic tool, it attempts to inject some humanity into the banal utilitarian imagery of modern computers."

Guy 101 was the winner of the best short animation Orange British Film Awards (BAFTA) 2007.

Well have to be honest... I really dont like this film. The 'gag' is a bit lame and the visuals horrible. Still it seems to be doing well so what do I know.

The skill of the filmmaking aside, the story seems to me told for laughs, without irony, and homophobic. Could the same story be told about, say, a female, or Jewish, or Black protagonist?

when i saw this i was enthralled by the materful storytelling. the visual style adds tension, humour, wit and power when the filmmaker needs to use those things. amazing given the relatively lo-fi visuals, that this packs a punch, well above its weight and much harder than many indulgent, over earnest, larger budget productions. congratulations on the BAFTA, a joy for you, us and the future of moving image.

I think I can say I loved this. I started watching it in film class and when "I'm horney" line came up the teacher had to turn it off.

I think the pixled computer style is a good way of telling the story, very celevfer and I hope we see more like it, from Ian or other directors.

A very well done from me.
