synopsis
For 200 Nanowebbers, Semiconductor have created a molecular web that is generated by Double Adaptor's live soundtrack. Using custom-made scripting, the melodies and rhythms spawn a nanoscale environment that shifts and contorts to the audio's resonance. Layers of energetic hand-drawn animations, play over the simplest of vector shapes that form atomic scale associations. As the landscape flickers into existence by the light of trapped electron particles, substructures begin to take shape and resemble crystalline substances.
short fact
We make art works which reveal our physical world in flux. As forces of nature come into play on our surroundings, we witness events unfolding over thousands of years well beyond our lifespan, or outside the limits of human perception. With 200 Nanowebbers we wanted to explore visual techniques that would make you feel like you were observing a Nanoscale world, without having to use other objects as a scale reference. The short depth of field reflects the limited ability of the tools we must use to experience this relatively miniature world. Early 2007 Fat Cat Records will release a new DVD of our artworks: Worlds in Flux.

Nice to see the combination of hand drawn elements and depth of field effects in what might otherwise seem a sterile and inhospitable environment.
