The BBC Three New Filmmaker Awards 2006 were presented at Bristol's Encounters Short Film Festival on Thursday 23rd November, and the big winner was Tom Harper for his urban fox hunting drama Cubs. Tom pocketed a cheque for £5,000, while the two runners-up - Richard Smith (Mono) and Matt Watt (Bobsboxes) - walked away with £2,500 for their efforts. For Watt, that meant a £2,495 profit on his short, which he made at university in 2004 for the grand sum of £5.
