Even before his TCM Classic Shorts 2006 nomination for Cubs, writer/director Tom Harper has been getting used to delivering acceptance speeches. Cubs won the Best Short at this year's Rushes Soho Shorts festival in London and has also screened at prestigious festivals around the world (including Edinburgh, London and New York).

Starring Ashley Walters (Life & Lyrics) and Harry Eden (the Artful Dodger in TV's Oliver Twist), Cubs is a rites-of-passage short about urban fox hunting. That's right: urban fox hunting, complete with dogs, blooding ceremonies and distinctive dress codes (we can't wait to read the Countryside Alliance's review).

Tom Harper was listed in Screen International's Stars Of Tomorrow feature in May 2006, and Cubs shows why. In the video Tom talks about the inspiration for Cubs, the themes in his work and why he's still keen to make more shorts in the near-future.
