synopsis
On a run down council estate, 17 year old Robert visits his mentally disturbed Somali friend, Awat. Robert tells Awat the story of how he and their bre'dren, Marlon, spent all day trying to buy some weed, during London’s worst marijuana drought in living memory. After getting caught up in an unprovoked street fight, the boys finally get their drugs and start enjoying a drinking and smoking session. But it is only when Robert is high that he at last comes to a realisation about himself and Awat – a realisation that will change Robert's life forever..."
short fact
"When I see a couple of kids bouncing down the road on a hot summer’s day - tee-shirts slung over bare shoulders, a can of Stella in one hand, a leashed bulldog in the other – I want to know and tell their tale.

As a storyteller, I’m attracted to the delinquent and the underclass. So Mash Up came out of my desire to share some of the outrageous stories that myself and others have experienced growing up in London. But I also wanted Mash Up to work on another level, one that would keep an audience guessing, and this is how the supernatural elements of the film came to be."
