synopsis
Four-year old Chloe sees a man shoplifting and asks her mum if she too can 'shop like the man.' Mum - distracted and on the phone – agrees, only aware of what has been going on when a Security Guard stops them at the check-out.
short fact
The film was shot in a supermarket over two days whilst it was still open to the public. We moved around the store with the camera on a dolly and portable lights, with all the battery packs pushed in trollies behind. Most of the shopping public ignored us or watched, but some clearly wanted to be involved and confidently strode into shot...

Cracking portrayal of misunderstanding children.. not having enough time to immerse in their way of thinking, and the kid being too self-centred to imagine how they are coming across. Playful yet intelligent. Though a slightly bizarre ending.. the whole thing seemed like it was supposed to be realistic and convincing until that rather unlikely last shot of payment via milkyway bars. Again, just loving the effortless success of that detailed mother/daughter interaction, so delicately depicted in such an insightful way!

A nice easy way to spend 5 minutes. The daughter was a good little performer. Not sure what I'm meant to think at the end, does crime pay or not?
Supermarket lighting never looks good on film though, I would probably have picked a different location.

Very enjoyable. Simple, yet filmed in a way that kept my attention to the very end even though the plot was obvious. Nice final twist.

well shot. not sure if film was ruined by synopsis giving the whole plot away or if it was just too long at 5 min

In just five minutes the viewer is given plenty to think about. The story is very well told and beautifully understated. Very enjoyable.
