Well I'm not sure how long the Early Morning Show will last, or for that matter the message boards, and even James "The Boy" Wickham. But while they do we can still chat on here about the Early Morning Show and things in the East Midlands.

Sec230 for now.

I only found out last night that Dylan was leaving. Sorry to see him go. Why did he leave, did he walk or was he pushed?? Whats he going to do now?

Are these message boards on their way out as well then??

Yes Mark most loyal to the end ..;)

Dylan was removed for cost cutting it seems. His last show was this morning.
Look around the boards and you will see that postings are there about the closure. A few months we have heard. :(

Congratulations to yourself and Mrs Mark on your good news. You did make me laugh when I read your report that "she had gone and done it".
I hope you went and did it as well ..<laugh>

Sec230 ..

These boards are going?? Typical BBC. Where will I be able to pass comment on good/bad Radio Leicester presenters/programmes/features? Nowhere I guess, which will suit some people.

I suppose they are quite underused but still we must rise up against them!!!

If Dylan has gone due to cost cutting how come the Early Show continues? Does the young lad not get paid as much?!?

YTS boy Mark013 ;)

He is already a full time employee, so costs are down by dylan going. Not sure of long term though. After 30 hours still no reply from Nottingham management as lont term plans. Why don't you ask Kate at Leicester? :)

Hi All,
Today is a special day. It is the birthday of Katherine Roys - now aged 11.
She was on air this morning practicing her future broadcasting voice with DR001.
Happy Birthday, Katherine.
Keep smiling

So we think the early show will be a goner soon as well then? I will send Kate Squire an email!

For us we only have him until six anyway so perhaps we might just end up with an extra hour of Five Live. I only heard Dylan for 15 minutes a day but I will still miss him, he was a good presenter. Soon we lose the message boards as we know them too, will there be somewhere for us after their demise? <erm>

Mr Ernest003, if you sign up for the Whickham Wonderers, you can keep your old membership number <ok>
Mark013 Mmost Loyal, as usual the Beeb never tell us anything. As I've said elsewhere, we are only the listeners and wage payers...<doh> So please try asking Ms Squires if she knows anything.
I know something, but I'm great at secrets, just ask Dylan001 ..<whistle>

I do good secrets as well <whistle>

However I did not forsee DR0001 going as some people might have done <erm> !!

I think if The Early Show gets scrapped it will be a good excuse at Radio Leicester for a bit of a revamp, some new non-repetitive jingles and a new face or two.

Top Secret
There is a devious plan, by the BBC, to get us all to watch TV. They will then shut down all their local radio stations.
Little do they know that I can get a brilliant reception for BFBS on DAB!!

Whickham Wonderers Wonder Boy No 003

Quoted from this message

So now it becomes clear as to why James <err> 001 mentioned Wonder boys and girls...<laugh>

I suppose the president has to be Number 1. <erm>

If anybody is interested in the Space Station passing tomorrow at a reasonable (well the first is 03:47) it will pass over at 05:18, suddenly appearing as it comes out of the shadow.

See site for more details.

But, Sec (Wonder Boy) 230, if I hold the chart above my head, surely it is upside down. How do I read the chart on the other side??
Our President ,Wickham Wanderer Wonder Boy 1, is either the Happy Wanderer* or The Wanderer (by Dion and the Belmonts 1962)
*Was Happy Wanderer a hit before the hit parade came into being. If not, who had the hit please?
Happy Wanderer Obernkirchen Children's Choir
Happy Wanderer Stargazers
The Happy Wanderer Frank Weir

We used to love singing along to it on our Abbots Road. Leicester, Sunday School outings to Wicksteed Park and Drayton Manor Park. After In The Stores, of course! Or was it 1957 or after on our Army Route marches?
The old memory is going...
Keep smiling

Mr Ernest Happy Wonderer003. You are spelling Wanderer wrongly in the case. I have no intention of going roaming hillsides, dales or anywhere else at 5.a.m. I thought the Wonderers because we all Wonder what we are doing up and listening to the radio at that early hour..:)

You will not be able to miss the space station going over as it is quite a bright light going at a steady speed. It will at the gone 5.a.m. one just appear in the sky as it comes out of a shadow. It will not come from over the horizon. <ok>

Sunday School outings singing " my eyes are dim I cannot see, I have not bought my specs with me" then something about a Quartermasters stores. ;)
