Aldershot wins Olympic bid

Aldershot has been chosen as the venue for Team GB's holding camp ahead of the London 2012 Olympic games.

The Army town won its bid in the face of opposition from three other sites and the news has been greeted with jubilation in the town.

The Army is understood to have offered to upgrade some facilities should the BOA decide to take up its offer, and new facilities could also be built. Major investment is on its way to Aldershot as part of a 12 billion private finance initiative.

With Camberley and Farnborough both already building updated shopping and residential facilities, what would you like to see happen in Aldershot as part of the regeneration?
Can the area cope with the extra expense, traffic and public interest generated by this Olympic decision?
Should the money be spent on the people who live in the area, rather than upgrading facilities for the Olympic camp?
Is the camp going to be too far away from the Olympic stadium?

What are your views?

As long as they keep their stupid olympics and the cost that goes with them away from the north east - who cares...
