I'm fed up with NON SMOKERS telling me what to do, I was sat on a bench in town all alone having a cig when a middle age woman sat at the end of the bench, after a minute she said can i put my cig out as she does not like the smoke,I told her NO go and sit somewhere else. The Cheek of it asking me to put my cig out.

Good you stood your ground, don't be bullied by anyone.

Never mind pompom, we all make mistakes. And it's getting easier to make mistakes the way this country's going. There'll be the blink police next.

'Excuse me sir, did you just blink?'
"Why not at all officer"
'I'm sure I saw you blink just then'
"No, not me officer"
'I'm afraid you're going to have to come down the station and answer a few questions. Unless ofcourse, you take the on-the-spot fine'
" how much is the fine, officer?"
'Make that your house, the car, and that looks like a nice watch you've got on there'
"Oh all right then, you can have the watch but that's all you're getting"
'That'll do very nicely, now go on your way.
oh, by the way.........'
"What's that officer?"
'You have a nice day now.'

That was a little light humour by me there.
Allegedly :)

With so many miserable controlling whining people in this country it's no wonder that there's so much unhappiness.

This comment is a bit of a contradiction when talking about smoking. <erm>

I see from reading some of your past (boring and pretentious) posts that you are something of a troll, and obviously an expert on "prats." I expect you're a smoker, or self-apponted advocate of the freedom to smoke, but the sort who never actually debates, just name-calls - not really worth talking to you. So I won't, from now !

Hmmm... strange, then, that you would be lecturing me elsewhere to

PS cut the insults.

(www.bbc.co.uk/dna/en... ), especially since my post to which you were taking such exception actually had some content as well as what you took to be an insult.

Or doesn't it work that way? is it alright for you to make posts that contain nothing but an insult, whereas it is not acceptable for others to make posts that in any way offend you? If so, I can only say that I am glad we don't live in your world.

Yes. Good for you. I too would have been rather more assertive with the dreadful woman. I too am heartily sick of being deemed "offensive" to just about every minority this country seems to manufacture daily.

STILL nobody has explained to me why I cannot spark up on railway stations. What is the point of that, they are all huge wind tunnels with rather more than adequate ventilation. What a country.

You really think I care a smidge what you think ?

Maybe it was you, sounds like the kind of pathetic thing you would do, find the only bench out of 20 with a smoker on it and sit next them just to complain about it.

Do you watch offensive things on TV just to complain about them too ? I bet you do.

So what does that say about you, your sadness ?

As a non smoker and an ex smoker I can see both sides. I find most smokers are very considerate when I am out and about with Witchy boy and do not smoke near him. that said I would not have chosen to sit on the bench with the smoker I would just have found somewhere else.

I think we should not be turning smokers into demons - what about all the binge drinkers who vomit all over our towns and cities every weekend leaving a mess for the taxpayer to pay to clear up?
