The BBC understands that Leicester City Football Club is going to appoint Gary Megson as its new manager.

Megson, who twice achieved promotion to the Premier League with West Brom, will become Leicester's fifth manager since Craig Levein left in January 2006.

Gerry Taggart, who played for the Foxes for six years until 2004, is expected to be Megson's assistant.

What do you think about Megson becoming City's new boss? Have your say here...

You beat me to it this time Leicester Host <laugh>

I am in agreement with the mystery Radio Leicester personality alc296 a.k.a. Jon Barber? <erm>

Gary Megson hasn't even had a job for getting on two years and when he did last have one he was bust getting Forest relegated from the Championship to League One. And then, after spending heavily massively underachieved. He left them languishing in League One where they still are!

Fair dues, he did well at West Brom but hold little hope for him as a long term manager of the club. Then again could any manager enjoy a long spell with a club under Mandaric! <whistle> The shortlist of Davies, Reid, Dowie and Megson was not that great anyway. Gerry Taggart is a good appointment, very passionate about the club and a possible future manager. Lets get Steve Walsh involved too! <ok>

And there was me, another Derby fan, trying to be dignified in my questioning.

But as one Foxes fan said on teh Premiership 606 site about Derbys struggling start - he woudl rather spend 5 years in the Championship than be in Derbys currnet league and position.......Megson will do that for you

Just listened to the press conference, it interupted the hour long chat with the man from Rockingham Castle - shame! <whistle>

I can't help thinking when I hear Milan that no matter how much he might know about business I don't think he is that familiar with football. The way he talked about Gerry Taggart it was clear he didn't have much of a clue about him. For a start he referred to him as a local lad! Then Megson was quick to tell the press that it was him (Megson) that brought Taggart in. Milamn wouldn't have liked that, he will be out in weeks!

Lets get behind the new man anyway. He can't be any worse than Levein or Rob Kelly can he? <erm>

its milans club because he bought it and for that we should be grateful but what he has to remember is that in purchasing the club he didnt buy the fans.

this is in a sense our club and he merely holds the lease for now.

i deont know if i can stand 12 weeks of boring megson football after being quietly excited about the prospect of martin allens team.

This is absolutely right:

So let's stop being negative shall we? I don't particularly like Mandaric's choice of Megson, but he's here whether we like it or not. Look, what's the worst that can happen? If there's no success under him very quickly, he'll go the way of Martin Allen and if he does well, we'll all be singing his praises as the 'best manager we've had since Martin O'Neill.' Let's face it, we City fans are a perverse and fickle lot :-D

Martin Allen brought a buzz and a renewed excitement to Leicester City and he evidently upset a few people along the way - not least the cook at the training ground who saw the restaurant swept aside to extend the training facilities! But you can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs.

The change he made that upset me was to the music that played when City score - but by the end of the Watford game, The Fratellis' 'Chelsea Dagger'was sweet music to my ears ... and 20,000+ other fans too!

Yet just 3 days later they were 1 - nil down and by Stephen Clemence's own admission on the City website, they weren't playing well enough.

Who knows what's been going on behind the scenes, I don't, but what I do know is that by Christmas I want to be absolutely sick of hearing The Fratellis!

Before this week I'd never heard of Gary Megson, and before July I'd never heard of Martin Allen. Actually before this year I'd never heard of Milan Mandaric. Yes, you've guessed it, I'm new to being a football supporter ... this is only my second season as a season ticket holder. But what I do know is that I work hard and look forward immensely to home games .... sometimes keeping me motivated through a difficult week.

So for me, the jury's out on Megson - and Mandaric I suppose - I don't care who's in charge, I just want to see someone passing to Levi Porter when he's standing around on the left wing unmarked and delight at Ian Hume banging them in like he did against Watford!

The Fratellis, 'Chelsea Dagger' ... play it again and again and again! <laugh>

I don't know what others think, but the battle that seems to be opening up between Milan Mandaric and some LCFC fans seems to be getting out of hand. Saturday's Leicester Mercury will publish a comment from the chairman saying 'if you like Martin Allen so much, give me your season ticket and follow him.' That's going to win friends amd influence people, isn't it Mr Mandaric? <doh>

Equally why do some of our fans want to cling to the past all the while? If this was Martin O'Neill we were talking about I could understand it, but from what I saw Allen would never have filled O'Neill's shoes. Allen was here only a short time and did only a little for the club, except (if the the stories are to be believed) upset a lot of his colleagues by interfering in things for which he had no responsibility. If I was on the receiving end of that at work, I'd expect my boss to do something about it and that's exactly what Mandaric did at the Walkers.

So, chairman stop attacking those who have followed LCFC through thick and thin, but to those fans who still believe the protest will get Allen back I say move on and give Megson a chance. If he doesn't work out, he won't be here long and if he's a success, we can start to really consider whether he's the successor to the O'Neill legend.

Just heard on EMT that Megson is being strongly linked with the vacant Bolton Wanderers job. Surely not? We cannot have yet more managerial ins and outs can we?

If Megson goes, then he is going to be about as popular as hemorrhoids with the people of Leicester. I hear Martin Allen is out of work ;-)

By the way Mr Allen has finally spoken out but nothing controversial!
