As I settle into my 6 months driving ban for driving 35 on a 30 mph limit road once too often with the full knowledge that I will never drive again I can't help wondering if I'm alone in this self deprivation. I should hope so, so that there is more room for safe drivers but I'm sceptical.

When I had my last spate of penalty points it culminated in a speed awareness course. I thought I had learned. Obviously not. If I am a dangerous driver I don't want to take the risk. Plus, I am a 57 year old past her sell by date. There is no need for me to drive. Just wondered if this was a common deduction.
Pom.

Did think of asking for community service instead Amp but I'd lost patience with the magistrate. Thought the fine may be increased if I opened my mouth!
Pom thinks that there is a lot to be said for the short, sharp shock.

After 37 years of safe driving I may have been caught by a camera today. It's not the fact that I got caught it's a matter of a lapse of concentration on an unfamiliar road and not the will to go fast. I am normally very careful of my speed. It's not a question of I will never get caught it's a matter of time until you will be no matter how good you are at driving.

<OK> it is me. I like your honesty.
If I'm honest I know I'm probably as safe a driver as most. It just suits me to take a U turn. 37 ? Two years before I had my 4th. Wouldn't have considered being without a car and a job.
Pom biding her time before picked up for J walking (lost cause)

Walking is great Rob! Do a lot of thinking.
Pom thinks that was her problem - she wouldn't observe the notice "Don't think and drive" She's dyslexic too! Born well before the statementing!

Pom , just reading about William Huskisson Liverpool MP in the 1820's . When he was a young man he lived with his uncle in Paris during the Revolution . He witnessed first hand the Guillotine executions . He even hid an aristo from the mob.
He was much loved in Liverpool. And after the tragedy of his death on the Opening day of the Liverpool to Manchester railway line . He was buried in St James cemetery next to Liverpools Anglican Cathedral.
Its ironic that his statue which was in Toxteth . was attacked during the Toxteth Riots . It now stands behind St Georges Hall.
