This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the House Rules in some way.

What an utterly absurd conclusion to make.
Just because one country is extremely intollerant of minorities, the minorities here should think themselves lucky and be quiet?
What utter garbage.
So I suppose Asians here should turn a blind eye to racial abuse then just because Russia also has a serious problem with racism?

Prejudice, whether on grounds of sexuality, gender or race is completely unnacceptable wherever it occurs, including Britain.

Just because on average Brits are more tolerant than Russians doesn't mean bigotted Brits should be excused. Why on earth should they?

I happen to be gay, yet keep myself to myself. I don't flaunt my sexuality any more than anyone else does. As such I don't expect anyone else to interfear in my life, especially strangers. What right does some tom, dick or harry have to poke their nose into my business and tell me how to live my life? I don't give a jot what other people do in their private lives, hence I take considerable exception to those who think they can order me and tell me what I can and can't do in mine.
I'll do as I like thanks very much.

Why do some of them moan so much..

In Russia
"One journalist was attacked because he wore an earring, which led nationalists to say he was gay.

Police intervened to arrest dozens of gay rights activists and only rarely detained their attackers"

As regards to Peter Tatchell, personally I think he has a lot of guts, far more than the bigotted homophobes on this message board.
I'd like to see JoP et al, stand up to a load of neo-nazi's and hostile police in this manner. You'd wet your pants at the very thought of it.

Interesting you mention Peter Tatchell. As what he has had to deal with over many years, because he stands by his prinicples, makes him unigue when it comes to human rights.

I applaud the man, and wish I had the same courage he has.

Perhaps some of the people here should investigate the situation for all kinds of 'minorities' in Russia before they condemn gays here for 'whingeing'.
I think Peter Tatchell should be applauded for raising the issue of extreme prejudice in the Russian Federation. It's not just gays who're targeted, but anyone who isn't or doesn't look Russian. Even tourists have been attacked merely because they don't look Russian or are overheard speaking a foreign language.

Well, it's true, they do have it easy here. But I genuinely think most of them know and appreciate that. It's only a few of the militant in-yer-face homos who will stop only at world domination!
But on a slightly different tack, anyone any idea what causes it? Some say a 'gene', others a chemical imbalance in the brain or whatever. Others say it's upbringing: dominant mother, weak or non existent father. I'd appreciate people giving their opinion here, especially homosexuals themselves who are arguably in a better position (no pun intended) to know.

Didn't he assault someone he disagreed with himself once? So I take it he stands by his prinicples, and agrees with his attacker's human rights to do the same unto him?

I would suggest a bit of self examination is called for here as you use of language and obvious "I have a mate who" suggests you are in denial ???

I am a supporter of the idea that those who are very anti something (yet interested as you are) live in fear that they see such tendencies in themselves - stop fighting the urges - it is 2007 - come out of the closet - and say in a loud manly voice - "I like boys and I am proud to say so and my favourite colour is pink"

AIZimmer. What have you done in life to try and improve the lives of all people, besides your own?

Your response will be interesting to read!

Oh! Please cease the WHY!. Life is very diverse, and humanity as not reached the scientific capabilty to devine that diversity.

Those who take a personal one line thinking of that diversity of life, I consider have an issue of who they really are, and are being unfair to themselves, of who they are.
