Just as a point of interest ...

My mum used to leave me outside the front door to sleep in my pram in the morning sunshine, whilst she got on with the housework!

Admittedly the dog kept watch over me whilst mum's back was turned (my parents have a lovely photo of the dog lovingly watching over me). But never the less I was, in affect, left alone and out of sight of my mum in a situation which people would so candidly condemn today, as being an irresponsible act.

As for the McCann's - these children were inside a locked apartment. A relatively safe environment. The parents were close by and checked on them regularly. Maddy could just have easily have been abducted, whilst the parents were asleep in the next bedroom.

In any event, to those of you who are so quick to judge, don't you think the parents are suffering enough without all this condemnation?

I do hope poor little Maddy is ok and will be reunited with her parents soon.

This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the House Rules in some way.

It should be noted whether or not anyone thinks the parents are at fault. Praia de luz is a very laid back family orientated fishing village - nothing like this ever happens there which is why it's big news and prabably why the parents thought she was safe. I pray if there is a god that Maddy is safe and will be returned, I have just received an email of her picture which i'm sending out to all my European partners asking to be on the lookout for her, any little might help. Remember, Jamie Bulgers mother looked away for 10 seconds. I remember losing sight of my eldest child in a packed out Blackpool fair for 10 seconds too - it only takes a pervert to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and take an opportunity against an unguarded few seconds. None of us are perfect and parenting 24/7 is absolutely impossible - remember the child taken from the bath - who'd have thought that possible?

It must be freaky Thursday or a full moon. All the Tom Jones fans are posting madness.

OK lets leave all the children in the street sun bathing with rottweilers guarding them, was that factor chip fat they wiped all over your face.

A combination of sarcasm and paranoia makes for such a distructive animal.

Just because you do not think it is right, it does not make it wrong!

Now be a good chap and spare a kind thought for the McCanns - ALL of them!

I am not a religious person but have been praying everyday for the same return of Maddie. Our thoughts are with you all at such a terrible time.
I have a boy who will be 4 this Sat. I appreciate how you must be feeling. Think positive and be strong.

Tet I honestly hope ALL the children are OK and hope they will have better parents to look after them in the future.

Parents that will chose to stay with them rather than getting drunk with their mates up the road.

Spin all you want my heart says it is wrong, you either do the best you can or give then to someone how can.

Knockers!

They weren't getting drunk with their mates up the road. They were having a meal at the tapas bar which was situated a few hundred yards from the appartement!

Hardly the same thing at all!

Please, please let Madeleine be safe.
My family and I are constantly hoping and praying, as are many thousands of others.
Her parents, who have helped so many people in their professional lives, are to be admired for the strength they have shown in coping with this terrible trauma. There can be nothing worse than the 'not knowing' what has happened. God bless the McCann family.

I wholeheartely agree, Kent, and I think support for the parents is as important as prayers for the safe return of Maddy at this time - especially against those who condemn Kate and Gerry McCann as being 'irresponsible' parents.

This poor family must be going through hell - not to mention the terrifying experience that poor child must be having!

Hasn't it occured to people like Knockers that the remorse the parents must be feeling is tearing them up inside? Reading or hearing such negative comments does nothing to help the situation, rather it does more harm than good.

My heart goes out to them all. I just hope and pray it draws to a concusion soon and Maddy is safely reunited with her loving family.

i would not of left my children in a hotel room alone, if only for the fact that they might wake up alone and be scared, but that does'nt mean that i have no sympathy for the parents, i do, they must be going through hell, and if they did make a mistake, i'm sure they don't need us to tell them that, this will stay with them for the rest of their lives, you hear stories of people who take children, because maybe they have lost one of their own, and just want a child to look after. i hope this is what hashappened to her, and she will be found safe and well.

thank you ,these parents of madeleine deserve nothing less than our full support i and i do not think anybody can imagine a worst trauma to go through than having a child abducted we who are fortunate that it has not happened to us are the lucky ones .

Tet sorry I think the child is the one in pain and this would have been less likely to happen had they been proper parent

Not middle class know it alls

And as for that the guy that states he would leave his children all alone I state in my opinion he is unfit, If one person reads this thread and learns it is wrong to abandon their children then a much greater good has been done then justifying it.

Knockers

Being classist does not become you!

Have you been on the Mark Warner Ocean Summer Club Resort in the Algarve site? I posted a link to there earlier, but it has been sent to Jury <steam>

If you google the name, it comes straight up and then you can read all about the complex, how it is run and the facilities available.

It is a family orientated resort and caters for all ages of child.

It might give you a better understanding of the situation.
