Fed up pensioner

The cost of Walsall Council care visits has just gone up by 80% without warning!

Is anyone else finding it hard to pay the new £49.40 weekly charge for ten 1/2 hour visits? I'm an 83 year old cancer sufferer and I depend on these brief daily visits from helpers. I was appalled when the cost rocketed from £27.84 without warning or any consultation.

I'm told the sudden increase was implemented by Elaine Scott, Walsall Council's Business & Finance Manager. Apparently the social services staff at Walsall Council deplore this price rise but are frightened to speak out.

We desperately need this care but can no longer afford it from our pensions!

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Emigrate to Scotland.

They seem to be getting the biggest lump of "our" National Taxes, for home help, homes, drugs and education.

Have you tried a private agency? The Council do not want our custom.
Pom will not be trying to pay anyone to care for her. Would rather die. X nurse (when caring was part of their remit.)
