Gypsy Jazz in Oxfordshire!

There has never been a better time for anyone wishing to play in the tradition of the late great gypsy jazz exponent, Django Reinhardt. I say this from the standpoint of listening to many exponents over five decades playing this wonderful music. There is a wealth of material and opportunities available today for the gypsy jazz student in terms of recordings, gigs and festivals, guitars, workshops and tutors etc, devoted to our hero. This is in stark contrast to the sparse opportunities to hear it actually played well in Oxfordshire, other than perhaps by direct reference to Django’s recordings. In this respect it is worth announcing to the Gypsy Jazz Swing devotees of the finely honed talents of Paul Vernon Chester who not only runs masterclasses but will make two rare appearances in the Oxford area in March. Manouche Swing Jazz enthusiasts should not miss the opportunity to hear this Maestro in the flesh with the ghost of Django rising from his fluid fret and string fingers to delight both manouche guitar student and fans alike.
Suite Django ringing in your ears.
